The Forbes Asia Power Businesswomen list is the magazine’s first catalog of 50 noteworthy Asian women who contribute significantly to the region’s business environment.
Included are company founders, women who have moved into key roles in family enterprises and those who have scaled the executive ranks as professional managers, and all engaged in profit-seeking businesses with at least $100 million in annual revenue, Forbes Asia explained.
“Although the role of women in Asia-Pacific’s economy is growing, most of these honorees still have had to overcome significant barriers to get where they are today,” the article said.
China has the largest number of businesswomen on the list with 21, followed by India with eight and Singapore with five.
Korea, Indonesia, Japan, Australia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam each had four businesswomen on the list.
